MEET DR. JENNIFER ROMESSER

Clinical experience.
Human connection.

I’m Dr. Jennifer Romesser, a clinical psychologist with 20+ years of experience working with adults seeking clarity around their mental health, cognitive functioning, and everyday challenges.

At Northern Utah Psychology & Consulting PLLC, I provide psychological and neuropsychological assessments, ADHD evaluations, assessment for accommodations, and psychotherapy. My approach combines careful assessment with practical, individualized recommendations that are useful beyond the office.

You bring the questions. I help you make sense of the patterns, understand what they may mean, and identify clear next steps.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A thoughtful process.
A practical next step.

Start with a free, approximately 30-minute consultation. For assessments, I generally follow three appointments, with time between sessions to review and interpret the findings.

01 /

Intake

I listen to your concerns, gather relevant personal, medical, educational, and work history, and learn more about the symptoms, patterns, and challenges that brought you in. We’ll clarify your questions and goals for the evaluation. Intake usually takes 1-2 hours.

02 /

Testing

I select testing assessment measures based on your specific questions and concerns. Depending on the evaluation, testing may look at areas such as attention, memory, processing speed, reasoning, executive functioning, emotional functioning, or other relevant areas. Testing usually takes 3-5 hours depending on the scope and complexity of the evaluation.

03 /

Feedback

I bring together the information from your interview, history, testing, and other relevant sources to develop a clear understanding of your strengths, challenges, and patterns. During a 45-minute feedback session, we’ll review the results, discuss what they mean, and identify practical recommendations and next steps. You generally receive a copy of your completed evaluation report.

Getting started

What is the process of getting started, and what can I expect in the consultation?

I start with a free consultation lasting about 30 minutes to discuss your concerns and goals. If my services are a good fit, the next step is an intake session.

Do you offer weekend or evening appointments?

Yes. I offer evening and weekend appointments. Please contact me to discuss current availability and an appointment time that works for you.

Can I schedule an appointment for my loved one?

To respect an adult client’s privacy and choices, I communicate directly with the person seeking care and ask them to contact me about scheduling. You can help by sharing my contact information or supporting them as they reach out. NAMI offers guidance on having a caring conversation about getting help.

Assessment & recommendations

What does an adult ADHD assessment involve?

I consider your developmental history, current concerns, functioning across settings, and standardized assessment findings. I also consider other factors that can affect attention, such as mood, anxiety, sleep, or medical concerns. The assessment is individualized; a screening checklist alone does not establish the diagnosis.

Do you assess autism in adults?

Yes. I offer adult autism assessments using a neurodiversity-affirming approach. I consider developmental history, communication, social functioning, sensory experiences, and related concerns such as ADHD, anxiety, OCD, and mood symptoms.

How long does an evaluation take?

Evaluations typically involve three appointments: an initial intake of approximately 1–2 hours, a testing session of approximately 3–5 hours, and a feedback session of approximately 45 minutes. The timeline can vary depending on the questions being addressed and the complexity of the evaluation. We will discuss the anticipated timeline and what to expect during your consultation.

Will I receive a copy of my evaluation report?

You will generally receive a copy of your completed psychological or neuropsychological evaluation report, unless there is a clinically indicated reason not to provide the report directly to you. In most circumstances, having access to your evaluation allows you to better understand the findings and recommendations and to share the report with healthcare providers, schools, employers, or other professionals involved in your care and support. With your written authorization, I can also provide a copy of the report to other professionals or organizations, as appropriate.

Can you complete paperwork for school, work, testing, or disability accommodations?

Yes. When supported by the evaluation findings, I can provide documentation and complete appropriate accommodation forms for school, work, standardized testing, or other settings.

The school, employer, testing organization, or other institution makes the final decision about whether accommodations are approved. If you have specific documentation requirements or forms, please discuss them with me before your evaluation.

What if I suspect a diagnosis after seeing information on TikTok or other social media?

It is common to relate to information shared on social media and wonder whether a particular diagnosis might explain your experiences. You are welcome to bring those questions to an evaluation. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming and respectful of different processing styles. I use thorough interviews and standardized testing to consider the full picture. The findings may support your initial concerns or point to a different explanation.

Are there evaluations you do not provide?

I do not provide child-custody or other court-related evaluations, or specialized evaluations for substance use, criminal proceedings, or psychosexual concerns. These needs are generally best addressed by a psychologist with the relevant specialty, such as forensic assessment. I can help with referrals to professionals whose expertise fits your situation.

Therapy, location & telehealth

Do you offer therapy as well as assessments?

Yes. I provide individual therapy for adults experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, chronic pain, and challenges related to major life changes or medical conditions. My approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based approaches, with treatment tailored to your individual needs and goals.

Do you provide telehealth?

Yes. Intake and feedback sessions can typically be conducted by telehealth. Many psychological evaluations can also be completed remotely, while neuropsychological testing is typically conducted in person. We’ll discuss which format is appropriate for your evaluation during the consultation.

I’m outside Utah. Can you provide an assessment for me?

Yes, in some circumstances. In addition to my Utah license, I am authorized to provide certain psychological services through PSYPACT to clients physically located in participating states, subject to applicable requirements. See the official PSYPACT map.

Not every assessment can be completed through telehealth. Suitability depends on the referral question, the testing measures, and your circumstances. Please contact me for a consultation so I can discuss appropriate options with you.

Insurance & fees

Do you accept insurance?

I accept Huntsman Mental Health Institute-Behavioral Health Network (HMHI-BHN). I also accept Select Health plans, including Select Health Care, Select Health Choice, Select Health Med, Select Health Value and Select Health Share. Because coverage varies by plan, I encourage you to contact your insurance company to confirm your out-of-network benefits and reimbursement rates.

If your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for some reimbursement for services. I provide a monthly superbill that you can submit directly to your insurance company. Because coverage varies by plan, I encourage you to contact your insurance company to confirm your out-of-network benefits and reimbursement rates.

What does private-pay care cost? How will I know the cost of my evaluation?

My fee is $225 per hour. The total cost of an evaluation depends on the type of evaluation, the questions being addressed, and the amount of professional time required. Before an evaluation begins, I provide a Good Faith Estimate based on the information available during the consultation. This provides an estimate of the expected cost of the evaluation based on the anticipated time and services involved.

What is a Good Faith Estimate, and what are my rights if a bill is higher?

If you do not have insurance or are not using it for care, you generally have a right to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for non-emergency services.

A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) provides an estimate of the expected cost of your care before services are provided. When you schedule services, you will receive information about the anticipated charges based on the services you are expected to receive.

If you receive a bill that is substantially higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you have certain rights under federal law, including the right to dispute the bill. You can learn more about your rights and the federal dispute-resolution process at
